Australian-born, Jane was raised in Wellington, New Zealand. She went onto to gain her higher education in three years at Whitecliffe College of Art and Design in Auckland, gaining ‘First Year Prize’ for placing top of her year. After spending years as a costume maker and a freelance hair and makeup artist, Jane began her career in Archaeology. For twelve years she would hone her technical drawing skills as Site Planner (drafting scaled maps and diagrams of archaeological sites and features) and illustration artefacts. Jane’s work has been featured in numerous archaeological reports and publications. This work has taken her to Ireland, Thailand and many locations around Australia.
In 2013, while caring for her first child, Jane returned to her first love of drawing. Since then she has worked diligently improving her skills, building a body of work and exhibiting frequently. Strong themes of form, fashion and beauty follow Jane’s past study of fashion design and makeup artistry, as well as self-expression and identity, nature, repetition, scale and literary characters.
